Dining with Little Miss Ling: Brasserie Vlaming, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Brasserie Vlaming

The foodie highlight of our stay in Amsterdam was our dinner at Brasserie Vlaming

Bites Platter

Bites Platter (€19.00) – Variety of small starters for 2 persons

On the top tier we had spinach soup with dinner rolls. On the middle tier we had tuna and caper salad, baba ghanoush, green olives, cream cheese stuffed red peppers, and homemade mustard mayonnaise. Finally on the bottom tier we had beef carpaccio, salmon and cucumber rolls, chicken croquettes, goat cheese stuffed something (I can’t remember ! ^^;) with tomato salsa, and smoked eel with beetroot.

The soup was creamy and delicious, the dinner rolls were lovely and soft, the tuna and caper salad and salmon and cucumber rolls were very refreshing, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would be the chicken croquettes paired with the homemade mustard mayonnaise. The chicken croquettes were crunchy on the outside and silky smooth on the inside, and the mustard mayonnaise provided the perfect accent to the starter.

Rib Roast from Duke of Berkshire Pork

Rib Roast from Duke of Berkshire Pork (€25.50) – Slowly cooked in the oven with a truffle sauce

Grilled Black Angus Steak

Grilled Black Angus Steak (€19.75) – Served with a Mushroom Sauce

Stir Fried Sugar Snaps, Green Beans & Mushrooms

Stir Fried Sugar Snaps, Green Beans & Mushrooms (€4.75)

Both the rib roast and the steak were so to die for – juicy, tender, and full of flavour. The truffle and mushroom sauces complemented the meats so well, and the greens were fresh and crisp.

Sticky Toffee Pie

Sticky Toffee Pie (€7.00) – Ending the meal on a deliciously high note

If the divine food is not enough to entice you, hubby noted there were many more wine choices at Brasserie Vlaming compared to most restaurants when ordering wine by the glass.
