Gastronomical Spotlight: Kartoffelmuseum, Munich, Germany
Just a five minute walk from the Munich Ostbahnhof is a little known treasure known as the Kartoffelmuseum (Potato museum). And yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. A museum devoted to the humble spud, in particular, as a subject of art.

Ok. So maybe it’s not a must-see attraction for a lot of people, but I love it purely for how quirky it is!
The Kartoffelmuseum is located on the ground floor of OTEC-Haus. The displays in the museum are only in German, but you can ask for an English printout at the reception, which is a translation of the major signs in the museum.
And if you’re still undecided, entry is free!
I will leave you with this quote about potatoes by Goethe:
Morgens rund, mittags gestampft, abends in Scheiben – dabei soll’s bleiben. Es ist gesund.
(In the morning round, at noon mashed, in the evening cut sliced – that’s the way it should be. It is healthy.)
Johann Wolfgang Goethe
